County Mayor’s Notes – November 25th, 2020

Update from the Cumberland County Health Department
As of Monday November 23, 2020, the Xtend company will be contacting all individuals with positive test results completed at the Cumberland County Health Department.  It is imperative that all persons tested read through the information packet that is given before testing.  Many questions will be answered through the information provided in the packet.

The Cumberland County Health Department uses the PCR testing method.  More information on this testing method can be found at CDC.GOV.

Individuals are required to quarantine after testing until results are received.

The local Health Department (1503 South Main Street) is conducting drive through testing, free of charge, Monday through Friday.  EFFECTIVE TUESDAY NOVEMBER 24, 2020, the testing hours changed to 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM.   No doctor’s order is required, and no appointment is necessary. Anyone can be tested regardless of symptoms.

The Tennessee Department of Health and Tennessee National Guard will extend operating hours at the Cumberland County Health Department, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, November 30 ONLY.   All 89 rural county health departments, including the one in Cumberland County, will be open Monday, November 23, through Wednesday, November 25.  County health departments will be closed and will not provide COVID-19 testing from Thursday November 26, through Saturday November 28, 2020.

Tennessee COVID-19 Vaccination Plan – Initial Draft
I have had several ask about Tennessee’s vaccination plan.  Here is plan the initial draft of the plan as it stands today.

COVID-19 Update (difference from previous day)
We had a very low number of test results again today which means the data is again skewed on positivity and per capita rates at a minimum.  Over the past two days we have only received 101 results.  I know we have had several hundred tested this week, and that most results are generally available the next day.  I don’t know why there were so few results, but when this has happened in the past it has resulted in a large data dump a day or two later.  I look for that to happen again soon.

With Thanksgiving this week, I will be posting less often, but the full data can still be found online at the links listed below.

Please remember to wear a mask when appropriate, social distance, wash your hands, and follow the guidelines provided by Governor Lee and the CDC.  Be smart and avoid places you feel are unsafe.

The following are the numbers from the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) for Cumberland County as of 2:00 PM today. The change from the prior day, not my prior newsletter, is in parenthesis.

288 active cases (-33)
2,130 inactive/recovered (+51)
35 deaths officially reported (+0)
2,453 positive cases (+18)
89 cumulative hospitalizations (+0)
32,452 negative tests (+77)
18.01% positivity rate – 7-day average
86.83% Inactive/Recovered
7.03% cumulative positivity rate (positive cases / positive cases + negative tests)
4.05% of residents have tested positive
0.48% of residents have active cases

These numbers are intended to be a brief summary of the information provided by the Tennessee Department of Health. More detailed information can be found at the online dashboard: https://www.tn.gov/health/cedep/ncov.html

A new dashboard has been released for each county.  You can now view the Cumberland County COVID-19 dashboard here:

https://covid19.tn.gov/data/dashboards/?County=Cumberland

The dashboard seems to be the last data that is updated so it can lag for several hours behind the 2:00 PM daily data release.

School level COVID-19 data is now available online.  Click this link to see the information available for Cumberland County:
