County Mayor’s Notes – November 23rd, 2020

The Tennessee Department of Health and Tennessee National Guard will extend operating hours at the Cumberland County Health Department, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, November 23, and Monday, November 30 ONLY.   All 89 rural county health departments, including the one in Cumberland County, will be open Monday, November 23, through Wednesday, November 25.  County health departments will be closed and will not provide COVID-19 testing from Thursday November 26, through Saturday November 28, 2020.

COVID-19 Update (difference from previous day)
Please remember to wear a mask when appropriate, social distance, wash your hands, and follow the guidelines provided by Governor Lee and the CDC.  Be smart and avoid places you feel are unsafe.

The following are the numbers from the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) for Cumberland County as of 2:00 PM today. The change from the prior day, not my prior newsletter, is in parenthesis.

378 active cases (+12)
2,010 inactive/recovered (+11)
35 deaths officially reported (+0)
2,423 positive cases (+23)
89 cumulative hospitalizations (+0)
32,374 negative tests (+44)
15.35% positivity rate – 7-day average
82.96% Inactive/Recovered
6.96% cumulative positivity rate (positive cases / positive cases + negative tests)   
4.00% of residents have tested positive
0.62% of residents have active cases

A new dashboard has been released for each county.  You can now view the Cumberland County COVID-19 dashboard here:

The dashboard seems to be the last data that is updated so it can lag for several hours behind the 2:00 PM daily data release.

Health Department Testing
The local Health Department (1503 South Main Street) is conducting drive through testing, free of charge, Monday through Friday.  EFFECTIVE TUESDAY NOVEMBER 24, 2020, the testing hours will be changed to 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM.   No doctor’s order is required, and no appointment is necessary. Anyone can be tested regardless of symptoms.
