From my start on the Board of Education in 2002, to serving my second term as a County Commissioner, I have over a decade of experience in Cumberland County government. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business, and a Master’s degree in Leadership. I currently serve as the Chairman of both the Budget and the Debt Management Committees, as well as Chair Pro Tem of the full County Commission. The Tennessee Speaker of the House has twice appointed me to the state-wide Board of the Energy Efficient Schools Initiative. During my time serving Cumberland County, I have continually demonstrated an ability to bring people together to get things done. With a background that includes work in various economic sectors, I am an experienced leader with the vision to be ready to be YOUR County Mayor on day one.
I was born and raised in Cumberland County. I have lived most of my life right here in Cumberland County, except a few years during and right after college. I live with my wife of over 27 years, Rebecca. Rebecca is the Chief Nursing Officer of Cumberland Medical Center. We have two children, Brooke and Shade. Brooke is an RN and is currently working on her graduate degree to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Shade is in his sophomore year at Tennessee Tech University majoring in Athletic Training.
My background includes everything from working on an assembly line during college, to owning a small business, to being the IT Manager at one of Cumberland County’s largest manufacturing employers. I started my career in Nashville working for the Treasury Department. I have participated in daily profit/loss meetings, and have years of experience creating and living with budgets in the business world and in government. I am currently the Assistant Director of Networking, Telecommunications, and Technical Support at Roane State Community College.
