COVID-19 Update
Cumberland County is seeing a surge in COVID-19 infections as the Delta variant continues to spread. According to Tennessee Health Commissioner Lisa Piercey, almost all COVID-19 related deaths are occurring among the unvaccinated. They account for 93% of all cases, 95% of all deaths and 90% of all hospitalizations. The percentage of breakthrough cases accounts for less than 0.06% of Tennessee’s fully vaccinated population, data shows. According to Piercy, the state has seen roughly 1,600 “breakthrough” cases with 218 of them hospitalized and 31 deaths. Piercy stated the case count represents a tiny portion of the nearly 2.7 million vaccinated Tennesseans.
According to the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH), in Cumberland County there are 240 active cases of COVID-19, which is up from a recent low of one on July 5, 2021. Getting vaccinated is a personal decision and should be made by an individual and their doctor and other trusted advisors. Information for those that wish to get vaccinated is provided below.
Vaccination and Testing at the Health Department
The Cumberland County Health Department (CCHD) COVID-19 vaccination and testing programs have moved from the Community Complex to the CCHD at 1503 South Main Street, Crossville, TN 38555.
Vaccines are provided daily, Monday through Friday from 8 AM until 4:30 PM. No appointment is needed.
Testing is available Monday through Friday from 10 AM until noon. These times may be adjusted as demand warrants.

In your notes above you state that, “Getting vaccinated is a personal decision and should be made by an individual and their doctor and other trusted advisors.” Well I guess I’m a trusted advisor because if you are sitting next to me in a public place you better be vaccinated, just like you better not smoke. Your irresponsible actions can affect my health so it’s not all about you. Unless you have a health condition that doesn’t allow you to get vaccinated there is no excuse. So, Mayor, why don’t you tell people to get vaccinated to keep their loved ones safe instead of making it a personal choice that can affect all of society. Gary J Tipton
