Cumberland County COVID-19 Update
We have a new map available that gives a little more data by zip code. To get to the map, click on the link below, then “Click here for complete data report, including county level information”, and then click “Maps”. Select the “Recent trends by Zip Code” tab and select “Upper Cumberland Region” to see the 21-Day Testing and Case Rates for various zip codes. This is a new map that came out yesterday.
Our active cases are the same as yesterday and our positivity rate, the percent of those that have been tested that are positive, continues to stay low. Let’s keep it that way by wearing a mask if you can’t social distance, and by observing good hygiene including washing your hands frequently. Masks help to slow the spread by stopping the droplets that carry the virus.

I talked with Cumberland Medical Center (CMC) CAO David Bunch yesterday. Although CMC does not release the number of COVID-19 patients currently in the hospital, he assured me they have plenty of PPE, ventilators, and bed space.

* Hospitalization data reflect the cumulative (total) number of cases of Cumberland County residents that were ever hospitalized from COVID-19. It does not reflect the number of people currently hospitalized. This does not mean the patient was hospitalized in Cumberland County. It means that a Cumberland County resident was hospitalized at some point.
Masks Required in Court
A new order from the Supreme Court of Tennessee has been issued for anyone entering the building in which court facilities are located must wear a mask covering the nose and mouth. With this issue you will need to bring a mask with you to court or if you have any business with the Clerk & Master or Circuit Court Clerk’s office, effective Monday, July 13, 2020.

Health Department Testing and Cloth Masks
Masks help to slow the spread by stopping the droplets that carry the virus. Free cloth masks are available at the Health Department for those that want one. Stop by Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm to pick one up for each individual in your household.
The local Health Department (1503 South Main Street) is conducting drive through testing, free of charge, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. No doctor’s order is required, and no appointment is necessary. Anyone can be tested regardless of symptoms.
Census
Cumberland County is, unfortunately, in second place in the Upper Cumberland in census response rates. Putnam County has a response rate of 65.1% while Cumberland County is only at 59.8%. Our response rate percentage is at a negative variance of 8.7 percent compared to 2010, so we are really behind. August 11th is the official start of non-response follow up operations (door knocking) and October 31st marks the end of the census.
