County Mayor’s Notes – June 9th, 2020

I need your help!
Cumberland County is still in SECOND PLACE (boo) in the Upper Cumberland with a 59.5% self-response rate to the census.  Putnam County leads the Upper Cumberland with a 64.8% rate.  Here is the break down by City:
City of Crossville is at 51%
City of Crab Orchard is at 41.8%
City of Pleasant Hill is at 36.7%

We spoke with our Census contact yesterday and they have extended the self-response until October but will tentatively start knocking on doors in August for those that have not already responded.

The census is important, and Cumberland County is behind in getting them completed!  Please take the time complete your census today by visiting www.2020Census.gov or calling 844-330-2020 to get counted today!  It matters.

I send my newsletter updates multiple times a week, excluding the weekends, but I update my social media almost daily.  If you want to get these updates more frequently, please subscribe to my newsletter, and follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.  These numbers are intended to be a brief summary of the information provided by the Tennessee Department of Health.  More detailed information can be found here.

Cloth Masks
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has temporarily halted distribution of the free COVID-19 masks following a news report raising safety concerns about an anti-microbial agent used to treat the black, knitted cloth coverings.  The manufacturer statement about the masks can be found at https://www.renfro.com/2020/06/renfro-face-masks-press-release/.

Thank you for being part of the solution and thank you for the opportunity to serve as your County Mayor.
