As of this writing, I have been notified by the TN Department of Health (TDH) that three residents of Cumberland County have tested positive for COVID-19, the novel coronavirus. The patients have been placed in quarantine and are recovering at home. Contact tracing is standard in these cases. That is all the information that has been released at this time.
The Cumberland County Health Department has resumed COVID-19 testing Monday – Friday from 1:30 PM until 3:30 PM. For more information please call 931-484-6196. Your primary care physician can likely test as well. Please all before you go for testing.
COVID-19 Testing Details
I have been asked on multiple occasions for more specific details concerning those that test positive, but due to HIPAA restrictions no additional information is released to me. I give out all the details that I am given. Those requirements have NOT been changed to allow the release of personally identifiably information. The Department of Health is in charge of what is released. Contact tracing is conducted with all those testing positive, so if you have been in close contact with someone that tests positive, you will be notified.

What should you do if you think you have been exposed to the COVID-19 or want tested?
- Stay home and self-isolate, then
- Call your primary care physician or, if you don’t have one, call the Health Department (Cumberland County Health Department: 931-484-6169) to get directions concerning test.
Broadband Access
Bledsoe Telephone Cooperative Fiber and Ben Lomand (VolFirst) have installed wireless access points to assist with those who may need internet access through this unique time with the COVID-19 Pandemic. These could be helpful with telehealth, schoolwork, ordering groceries, etc. Please remember to practice social distancing when using these hotspots.
These access points are free of charge. BTC has two locations in the southern portion of Cumberland County, which is the northern portion of their service area, that may be of interest to Cumberland County residents. Each of these hotspots provide bandwidth in the parking areas of these facilities.

Ben Lomand is in the process of installing a hotspot at their Crossville Office at 205 O’Brien Drive. This should be up and running today. Users may park in the front customer parking area to utilize the service.
Other Wi-Fi hotspots are in the works. I will let you know about them as they come online.
