The final monthly County Commission meeting for 2012 was held on Monday, December 17th at 6:00 PM. All Commissioners were present with the exception of Johnny Presley and Larry Allen.
Resolutions
With business winding down for the year, only three resolutions were considered during the meeting. A resolution authorizing a donation to be given to the Eighth District Volunteer Fire Department in the amount of $1,965.63 was approved. This money came from the sale of a surplus fire truck. As the Eighth District Volunteer Fire Department had raised the money for this truck originally, the funds from the sale were sent back for use in their area.
The second resolution of the evening was for a budget amendment transferring $9,406.75 to the library’s budget. The State of Tennessee Comptroller’s Office recently recommended that internal operations of the library be revised so that all funds received by the library be remitted to the County Government. These funds had been kept and used by the library for operations until now. For the remainder of the fiscal year, these funds will be remitted to the county and then placed back in to the library’s budget. When next year’s budget is addressed, a more permanent solution will be devised.
The final resolution of the evening was to approve grants for the Sanitation Department’s recycling program. Any matching funds required will come from the Sanitation Department Fund Balance.
Financial Report
The last three months have shown sales tax receipts to be trending downward here in Cumberland County as we are approximately $38,000 below estimates. Property tax collections are meeting projections as is the Hotel/Motel tax.
