Oath of Office
All local newly elected officials took their various oaths of office Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 5:00 PM in a ceremony in the large courtroom at the Cumberland County Courthouse.  The new terms of office begin today, September 1, 2010 and run for four years.

Kenneth Carey Jr. – Mayor, Butch Burgess – Sheriff, Scott Blaylock – Road Superintendent, Jule Bryson – CountyClerk, Larry Sherrill – Circuit Court Clerk, Kim Tollett Wyatt – County Trustee, the Board of Commissioners, and the new Board of Education members were all sworn in to office.  Judy Graham Swallows – Register of Deeds, took her oath of office earlier.

I want to take this opportunity to once again thank you for your vote and for the trust you have placed in me.  During the next four years, I look forward to serving you as your commissioner.  While there may be times that we disagree on an issue, I will do my best during this term to listen, to keep you informed and to work toward the betterment of CumberlandCounty.  All relationships are two way streets and this one will be no different.  For this to work we will have to maintain two way communication so I can stay informed.  To that end, I have several resources including an email newsletter, a Facebook page, and a Twitter account, that you can sign up for at my website, http://allenfoster.net.  The site will be regularly updated with all types of information concerning our government here in CumberlandcCounty.  Check the site often for meeting notices, agendas, meeting minutes, budget documents, and other documents of interest.  You can also reach me by phone at 484-5974.  I encourage you to keep in contact.
